Hello Tribe,
I have been away from you for a while and now I am back, with that stupid look on my face. So what have I been up to...

This last weekend I stayed home, sick and ill. I even stayed home from work today.

I watched my first episode of Gene Simmons Family Jewels. I found it to be really funny. I had heard about it and thought to watch it, yet never really got around to it. I have since added it to my Tivo. I'm hoping there are more amusing episodes.

"See you on the playa," is a common phrase this week. Our camp mates said it last night as they left. We spent the afternoon working on EL Wire projects, fur projects, and just spending time together. Won't be seeing them till they arrive out on the playa.

Friends who will be going again this year, who I miss, and have not seen in some time, have commented to the same affect, "see you on the playa." It's exciting! There are a lot of people I am excited to see there. I look forward to meeting new people as well.

There are a few people, that can't say, "see you on the playa." They are not attending this year for their own reasons. They will be missed and I know that every picture I take, I will be taking so that they can see.

More to do today. Leaving Saturday puts everything into a slightly new perspective. More pressure to get things done.

So, I read this article ( http://www.hackaday.com/2006/02/06/the-mac-minitosh/ ) on hackaday.com, which lead me to read this article: http://www.destruc.tv/minitosh.php on how to stuff a Mac Classic Case with modern Mac components, a major "upgrade."

So what am I doing? Recreating the project! I want to do it with my own twists, and I need some help finding components. I hit eBay and Craig's List and found this Classic for sale ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=001&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBI%3AIT&viewitem=&item=110112943756&rd=1&rd=1 ) and some Plus' for free.

I'm hunting for a 9" LCD VGA monitor to use. I found one 9.5" CTX LCD monitor VGA input LMT-1000 12v on eBay ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=017&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBI%3AIT&viewitem=&item=270107945323&rd=1&rd=1 ). This is my call out to geeks nationwide: Do you know of, or have, a working color 9" LCD display that you are willing to part with or sell?

The other half of this project comes from this article ( http://www.hackaday.com/2005/09/01/tuaw-trys-out-osx86/ ) on hackaday.com where I want to build a mini PC in a Vintage Mac Case and attempt to load in OS X86.

So I drove into work today. Upon stepping out of my car, I saw a crumpled something on the ground. I picked it's broken peices up and found that it was a HP USB Flash Drive. I inspected it: the exterior casing had been crushed, the internal board looked intact, and closer inspection showed one of the surface mounted chips had come off and one was dislodged from it's soldier. I pluged it into a USB port, and the light activated; it's working. The drive didn't mount.

I'm guessing the two chips regulate power to the main microprocessor. The chips are marked at C10 next to the "create" chip. Thoughts of fixing it reside in my head. Don't know if I can, but it's possible...

So, I was looking at a friends pictures from BM '06, she was laying on top of her boyfriend and they were on a couch. The thought occurred to me, "A couch sure would be nice to have out there, yet it's such a bulky thing to haul out there. Plus if I get one... it may or may not fit the theme."

The Construct-a-Couch!
+ Easy to put together with either bolts or some quick clasps/latches
+ Easier to move by myself
+ Easier to pack and haul around/store
+ Easy to recover for various themes

So now I go find some old couch to frankenstien into something fabulous!

I got flowers, coffee, and a card today! It was a total and absolute surprise to me, from Kim (http://venusrising.livejournal.com/)!!! Literally jumping up and down! (Once I was out of the office, they already think I'm strange enough :p) No one has ever bought me flowers. No girlfriend has ever done anything like this for me ever. Random gifts and stuff, sure; I've never gotten flowers and a card (and the bonus Eggnog Chai Latte)! They are bright pretty flowers, a total contrast to the dark clouds outside. Pour Kim thou... she came in and our receptionist was out to lunch. She had wanted to have her page me to the front desk and all.

I went out to Pigeon Forge, TN for my friend's wedding. I will soon be posting picts and getting that all squared away. For now, two voiceposts to my LJ that you can listen to while I was at the airport:

Not that anyone will really know what it's about. I started http://tribes.tribe.net/chumby and well... I want some people to come join. Some of you may have heard of a Chumby, most of you won't have. That's OK! If you're interested in checking it out or like cool gadgets, you might really like Chumby ( http://www.chumby.com )

That's all for now. Back to my green tea latte.

I spent most of the day yesterday in bed, under covers, and in the care of Kim. I think I got the flu. I didn't go online, I didn't check my email, and I didn't to much of anything.

Halloween: Loaded up on meds and made it out to the Winchester Mystery House. This was for their Flashlight tour. I really enjoyed it! I learned a lot, and saw a lot of entirely wacked out building ideas! After the hour long tour, we got gas and headed north to The EndUp for their 80's Mash Party. Our group consisted of: Kim, Bill, Keeley, Maggie, and myself. John was there as well, and he was lead around by collar all night. I kept myself warm and enjoyed the company of various people floating by looking for a light. I did get many compliments on my outfit. I really wish I had grabed the camera. Kim looked so adorable in her Little Red Riding Hood costume. Maggie was smoking hot in her little police outfit. Keeley's Wolf outfit really fit the bill with Riding Hood :) Also, kathykat was much missed. She was going to come with us, and for her own reasons, choose not to.

The whole next day I was near dead to the world. Kim set me up with chicken soup, juice, water, and kleenex. Yes, I can take care of myself. It was really nice to have someone there to help me out thou! I can't wait to repay her kindness.

Today was better than yesterday, to a degree. Came home to rest and get laundry and stuff like that done. EndUp again this coming Friday.

5 Blind Artists

The first five people to respond to this post (and follow instructions) will get some form of art, by me, about them. I make no guarantees about quality or type, but I will assure that I will give it good effort.

The only catch (of course! in the spirit of gifting it forward) is this: if you sign up to get arted you'll have to put this in your own blog and make or perform art for others as well!

PS- I know I don't blog here often, I do blog on LiveJournal a lot more: http://ctuck.livejournal.com

R.I.P. Little Potter

Potter passed away this afternoon (Tuesday). Richard had taken her to the vet. When he left the vet, he had her in his truck, not in a carrier. Somehow she got up to the back window (that was open a crack, truck window) and weaseled her way out onto the hard truck bed cover. Traveling at 85 mph, I'm sure she got no purchase and physics took over. I don't know if Richard saw, or if he determined it from going back to find her, but she was one lane over. I don't know when she passed and I'm not going to consider it. It just saddens me.

Richard told me before I had to go out. When I returned home, I thought I heard her bell jingling, and that's when it really hit me. At different times tonight, I keep thinking I hear her bounding or jingling or clawing...

Back from LA, just a quick trip down south. Had a good time lounging and hanging with new friends. I posted a few pics in my album. Had a good time, hit the Erotic Museum and had a dildo fight with Punchy. Went to the Wax Museum and checked that out. Also went over and learned stuff at the Guinness World Records. Cheesy, yes I know, but it's sooo much fun to do that stuff. Reminds me that I got to go hit up that stuff here too!

I head to LA tonight. I will be back Sunday, not sure what time. I am driving down with Punchy, and we're going to meet up with her "boyfriend." I am looking forward to just lounging arounf the Courtyard where we're staying. There is a shorts shop I want to check out, but we'll see how that goes.
