Steve James Osteen, coming from a family background rich in musical heritage, was born in northern California’s silicon valley in 1976. While many musical families are brought up up with a piano in their house, Steve’s father was an electrical engineer, forcing him to grow up with a Yamaha Conn organ in his home and it is on this non weighted, non touch sensitive, plastic keyed instrument that Steve learned how to create music.

During his formative years he grew interest for a broad spectrum of punk and synth music ranging from New Order/Joy Division, Depeche Mode, The Smiths and OMD to more obscure (at least in the United States) Jean M Jarre and Amin Bhatia.

Never quite catching on to the grunge scene of the early 90’s, Steve was left musically abandoned and sought out to create his own electronic music. Luckily, with his father deeply involved in the expansion of silicon valley, a computer or two were always present. To his advantage, Steve had many opportunities utilizing the first midi music software created.

With a synthesizer and a computer close by, throughout the 90’s, he continued to evolve his talent and compositional skills playing in various bands.

The late 90's and early years of 2000 brought on interesting house and progressive trance. Playing with these styles, Steve finally found his niche in chilled out, ambient electronica.

Steve Osteen is currently writing and recording his first full length, professionally mixed and mastered Ambient electronic album. Look for it in late 2006.
