Job Search

Friends and Associates~

At the end of this month my current employment will come to an end.

So, I’m asking for your assistance in connecting me with people that could help in my quest for my next employment opportunity/adventure.

I have a great deal of experience in entertainment/music, live show production, computer networking and property management.

As you already know, I have invested a lot of time for the past few years in my professional fire performance company, both as a performer and as the Creative Director. So, in a perfect world, I would like to find a position that offers:

• A certain amount of flexibility when performance opportunities arise
• A job within the entertainment industry
• A position that can utilize my creative talents and background

However, I am open to all options at the moment. The perfect opportunity may come in a form that I am not imagining at the moment. My current position as the manager of a high-end professional housing facility for the last 4 years has actually been a terrific fit for me. I’ve worked 40 hours a week and still found time for my musical and performance endeavors.

If you know people that may be able to help move me one step closer to my next opportunity, I’d very much appreciate your help in making those connections. I am eager to talk to a variety of people. You never know where the next opportunity will come from.

Thank you very much for any support you can provide.

Cheers,
Ty

Our Little O'le CD release party: this saturday 5pm-10pm

Hey friends,

So we are having our official cd release party for the Machina Candeo’s soundtrack album: Silver and Blue. This Saturday in Venice(the California one). Its at Robin Murez’s sculpture garden on Abbot Kinney.
Its gonna be a unique event. We got DJ-TGE, food/beverages, us, and quite a celebration of art. ART? Yeah…some how this also turned out to be an event for a dozen or so artists. We couldn’t be happier. Clothing designers, jewelers and artists donated all $1000+ dollars worth of art to win at our raffle.

So come on out and support your local artists, DJs, your local fire artists and Ty’s attempt at bucking the music industry (by putting out an independent album).

Why you should buy music at CDBaby(music industry diatribe)

If you didn’t know what it takes to make money in the music industry…keep this in mind..
An artist on a major label needs to sell 500,000 to a million copies to brake even with the typical recording contract. Its pretty gross. There are many articles explaining this on the internet(producer Steve Albini’s “They Problem with Music” essay is a good one). Recording costs, producer costs, distribution, the huge cut the record company takes usually, management, music video and lawyers usually leave no money for the artist. The music industry does make a lot of money but not the artists. Sad. If you don’t sell that much you end up owing the record company lots of money, they won’t make another album for you and you won’t(generally) be able to record again..because your under contract with the record company. Most bands/artists means that’s the end of your career. Fun…huh?

Now take online places like Cdbaby…that independent artists can sell their stuff. CD baby keeps 4 bucks on a physical unit and only about 9% for a down loaded albums.

So with my new album. I recorded, produced and mastered it myself. I copyrighted it, Got Ascap publishing and IRSC codes myself. I have no record company, manager, A&R reps, recording studios, distribution company and such to pay. That means I would need to sell about 100-150 units to start breaking even. Anything after that and I would be making more money than your typical gold/platinum artist.

So if you do buy music…take a chance on internet sites…listen to the music and buy the stuff you like from them. You’ll be doing artists a great service and you’ll be using your economic power to change this pretty oppressive industry.

Ty Cy-Phy CD: Silver and Blue( soundtracks for machina candeo firedancechoreography)

I finally did it. I released an CD of my very own stuff….stuff I composed specifically for machina candeo( and couple I pulled out of my archive for MC). 17 pieces of music performed, recorded, mixed, pre-mastered, mastered all by little o’le self. And since this is so independent its not on an “independent” label…I’m distributing it myself and on line at all the major places one does that sort of thing…if one is a really an independent artist. CD baby, Amoeba Records, I-tunes..etc…etc.

The cool thing about doing it yourself…I figure…is that if I sell about 100 of these damn things I can I’ll break even. Anything above that is profit. Considering recording artists need to sell 500,000 to 1,000,000 millions just to break even(that’s the recording industry for you)…..I should be doing better than going the commercial route. Yup its true…your favorite artists generally don’t make any money off there records unless it’s a platinum album. Most artists make money off the t-shirt sales..

That’s why its so important to support your local independent artists…..its really the only way they can make any money off there art at all.

cheers,

New-ish video released

hey check out MC's latest vid. Actually it was made last summer...and never intended to be released.
We were just rehearsing for a show and Bob Jenkis(a friend of ours and an Emmy Award winning Editor) asked if he could film us a bit ...see what it would be like to shoot a fire troupe.

Anyway.....he came back a month or so later and showed us a what he did with the footage....stating this is the sort of real video he'd like to do with us. He called it a Proof of Concept Video. Anyway, the video he made was so friggin good(not much to do with us..we were just rehearsing) that we finally talked him into letting us release it.
