My Blog

Happy fall! I'm starting a crafts circle and fall is the perfect time to get involved in this sort of project! The days are getting shorter and colder. We'll be wanting to spend more time indoors with good company. If you are not an artist or year-round crafter, there are tons of seasonal projects you might be starting to think about: holiday decorations (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.), greeting cards, gifts, or nice snuggly scarves for yourselves! We can also discus whole or partial group projects such as quilts.

The circle will be open to any women working on or interested in any form of visual arts or crafts and who want to share, learn, get inspired, discus, or just get to know a group of cool, creative ladies!

So far it is open to women only, but if there is interest from men we can discus changing that.

The first meeting will be hosted at my home in Rohnert Park. Members will not be required to host, but should be willing if they can. No pressure to host will be put on you. Meetings will be every other week. If a location is not available for a given week, we can find an alternate public location such as a cafe.

Please forward this message to local Sonoma County ladies you think would be interested.

The [still to be named!] Crafts Circle will meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month. We will not meet on Christmas Day, so that makes only four meetings before the end of the year..!

The first meeting will be at 7pm, Tuesday, October 23
Email me if you are interested and need directions.

Bring: completed works and/or works in progress, tools and materials for something to work on and/or ideas to talk about, snacks or drinks to share (optional).

Did you know you can relax, spend more time with family, help reduce CO2 emissions and give yourself a chance at some terrific prizes in one simple step? You can help yourself, your community, the planet and have the chance to win a bike trip through beautiful Oregon for you and a companion.

What do you have to do? Go just one day this week without getting into your car. Go for a walk, ride your bike, take a bus, grab a ride with a friend. Or plan a family fun day at home or a block party with your neighbors! Each gallon of gas you don’t use keeps 20 pounds of carbon dioxide out of the air (plus saves you enough money to buy a cup of coffee and a chocolate donut or two, not that you’d want to spend your savings that way).

Visit the C3 site to sign up, then tell your friends: you could win an all-expenses paid trip on the Sustainable Energy in Motion Bicycle Tour or one of three other prizes going to thirty-nine participants.

One-fourth of the United States’ carbon dioxide emissions are caused by cars, while one-fourth of the trips Americans take are less than a mile long. We could easily reduce our impact by walking or riding a bike on these shorter trips, combining errands, and improving our gas mileage. After you sign up, look around the site to find more ways to improve your gas mileage, reduce your carbon dioxide emissions, and cheat gas stations of your hard-earned cash.

Go to: c3.newdream.org/campaigns/...3ef14d43cb/ to join the campaign and learn more about becoming a Carbon Conscious Consumer.
