The view from here...

'Tis the season

I've had a million conversations with friends...dems, repubs, and indies alike...and so many express this notion that the Clinton-Obama battle in the Democratic Party right now is going to be the party's undoing in November.

Maybe I'm crazy (likely I am), but it seems to me that when you are looking to hire someone you run them through a stringent interview and/or testing process. You want to know what they've done in the past. You want to know about their greatest shining successes. And you want to know where they are lacking.

I am proud of Dems right now. These are difficult times with serious issues facing our nation. There has been such deregulation and skewing of the rules to favor corporate America that we've turned the labor rights clock back fifty years. Bush has made no bones about it from day 1...privatization is/was/has been a central theme of his presidency. Iraq is a dead end scenario...there is no way that it can ever be spun into a 'win'.

I've watched every debate and heard just about every stump speech. While Barack Obama is possibly the most inspirational speaker of my lifetime...I am unprepared to cast my vote simply on political oratory.

I want someone who is strong, compassionate, and pragmatic. Someone who can get results.

And I want William Jefferson Clinton out in the world working to repair the damage that has been done to our national image and reputation.

For these and many other reasons I will vote for Hillary Clinton.

I don't think the Obama-Clinton battle is going to be the undoing of Dems in November. If Obama doesn't get the nom, he at least brought in a lot of young voters this year. Young voters who tend to vote Dem.

I keep hearing the argument that Clinton can't win because she's a woman and Obama can't win because he's Black. So McCain can win because he's a white male even though he's 142 years old and has cruddy policies on the majority of the major issues?
