Ali is my most dedicated friend, I can always count on her to be solid in truth and a grounded momma. My love and respect runs deep. Ive had the sheer pleasure of knowing this Goddess for, ahem, 'bout 10 years. Weve been close since we lived together on Cap Hill with about 6 of our other friends in a small studio apartment... hehe.... Weve watched each other bring children into the world, now our kids play together... We got roots, I love you Alison! Michael

THis momma rocks my world! She has put up with my crap for about 10 years now and nothing I do seems to surprise her. She has forgivin' me several times over and still has a patient ear for my neurotic ( but I like to think entertaining)babble about my life, loves, and lack of decisivness.
She is the sweet , nurturing ,organic, domestic goddess as well as the fierce tell- it- to- ya' -like -it- is- no bullshit- goddess that scares away your defects.
I think I can say that when ever i need someone to straighten me out , she is a good bet!
Now, the only question I have is ... why isn't she charging me for this shit?
She has accepted me whether I was fat or thinner, veg , vegan or far from both, married(ugh!) or independant, broke or financialy well, long hair or no hair, clothed or sky clad( uhhhh, did I just type that?), Free thinking or in an international religious organization, dutiful wife or feminist...etc etc etc.
I love her alot and hope she continues to forgive me for my duality, selfish awareness and occasional politicaly incorrect statements.
As well as any spelling or grammar mistakes in this testimonial.

Hey, folks! I am posting a link to a survey my team and I created for graduate school research. The survey is intended for artists, so please please please respond if you are one! Although we are looking primarily at the Puget Sound area, any artist can respond.
Here's a li'l bit about what we are up to:
Artists make up an important component of a thriving, flourishing community, but what makes an artist choose a community? And what elements make up an artists’ community? What makes an...

I actually visited the place where my ancestors and their descendents call home. Drummond Castle and Gardens is about 2 miles south of Creiff in between Perth and Edinburgh. I rented a car and drove (yes, on the wrong side of the road and car!) to see it.
The land surrounding Edinburgh is fairly flat (except for Arthur's Seat - the extinct volcano that formed the crag-and-tail on which the city resides), but I sensed the beginnings of a change as I approached Creiff with more hills formi...

Wow, it's very difficult to return to the regular routine here at my home/work.
If you have never traveled abroad, book an airline today and RUN to the nearest airport. It's so necessary to be immersed in another culture besides America. I mean I was in England, still experiencing western-style culture, still speaking English (mostly), but yet the culture feels TOTALLY different.
And proposing that we all should travel when we retire(?) is BULLSHIT. You are way better off traveling...

I'm on the train to Glasgow, only about a 50-minute trip. I decided last minute that I absolutely had to see the Glasgow School of Art designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
Yesterday, I visited the castle, walked the royal mile, and toured Holyroodhouse Palace. The best part of walking the royal mile is peeking through each wynd or close to see where it leads, sometimes following out of curiousity and sometimes being satisfied with a glance. The depth of this city continues to amaze me...

Did I mention how hot it is? I guess the day I traveled on the train up to Scotland was the hottest in a decade. Somehow I always get stuck on top floors with no lifts and no air-conditioning.
Left the group today with sadness, but also relief; it becomes tiresome traveling with 80 people.
Arrived in Edinburgh in the evening. This city is dark.
