i am a photographer
artistically ( www.veganica.com/derekgoodwin ) professionally ( www.derekgoodwin.com ) i am a vegan activist ( www.veganradio.com ) i love to see people awaken, it is so beautiful. this year i have finally seen an effect from what i have been doing because now it comes from a place of love, not anger or self-righteousness. a beautiful path to protect the innocent which leads to our own health and spiritual progress, the health of the planet, and the evolution of our collective consciousness as a species, one of many that share this world. i went to burning man for my first time this year. there are no words to describe it but i brought the dust out with me and spread it around wherever i went and spiritual awakenings bloom like flowers in the desert of the real. i had my first remembered dreams of flying just the other night. i did not fly like superman, more like a bird with wings, accelerating and gliding. i thought i must be dreaming, but then i thought "no, this is real". my friends walked below me and i did not want them to see me, i thought they wouldn't understand. i floated down gently behind them, elated. "i can fly" i thought, "all along i have been able to fly and not known". how much love i felt for them all. i wanted them to fly too. i still feel elated when i think of the dream. because during that time it was real, and i could fly, and now i know how it feels. . i am here for you, and you are here for me, and we are here for each other. all of us with wings.

I found that the more common meaning is "Ruler of the People", which is what I remember my mother telling me. That meaning makes me uncomfortable. I would much rather collaborate than rule. However... taking the project I created called the Vegan Bus across the country to Burning Man this year did put me into a lead... read more
