Shakespeare

<div>Taken from Shakespeare's
As you Like It

All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages. At first the infant,
Mewling and puking in the nurse's arms.
And then the whining schoolboy, with his satchel,
And shining morning face, creeping like snail
Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,
Sighing like furnace, with a woful ballad
Made to his mistress' eyebrow. Then a soldier,
Full of strange oaths, and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honour, sudden and quick in quarrel,
Seeking the bubble reputation
Even in the cannon's mouth. And then the justice,
In fair round belly with good capon lin'd,
With eyes severe, and beard of formal cut,
Full of wise saws and modern instances;
And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts
Into the lean and slipper's pantaloon,
With spectacles on nose and pouch on side,
His youthful hose well sav'd a world too wide
For his shrunk shank; and his big manly voice,
Turning again towards childish treble, pipes
And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all,
That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness, and mere oblivion,
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.</div>

~Looking For The Perfect Lead Guitarist~

<div>
Are you a bad ass guitarist with a killer sound?
Are you original and musically gifted?
Do you want to be in an awesome band that
inspires you with thought provoking songs?
Do you want to get paid for your craft?
Well if you do, please contact me immediately!
I am holding auditions for the perfect lead
guitarist that knows exactly what to play and
when to play it. I want someone who is truly
down to earth, creative, sharp, fun and focused.
Someone who plays guitar intelligently and
emotionally and is mastered. If you want to show off, or
wank off or play too many notes over my already
arranged music, then this project is not for you.
My music is original, contemplative, expressive
and simple. I am a cross between the Cranberries ,
PJ Harvey and Stevie Nicks. I love all genres of music.
My genre happens to be Indy Pop Rock. Some songs are
sweet and moderate tempo, some are dark and down
tempo. The set is strong, exciting and versatile.
If you are too, then please contact me immediately, either
through MySpace, http://www.myspace.com/vessyminkmusic
or at vessymink@gmail.com
For those who would like to send me a demo, please do so.
Vessy Mink
P.O. Box 1393
Venice, CA 90294

Thanks.

Dear Santa

<div>For Christmas this year I want no one to die in Iraq anymore.
And everywhere else where people are un-justly dying by way
of genocide, greed, corruption, rape, oppression and selfish motives, let all of these
hetrocities switfly come to an end. Because God, oops, I mean Santa, it just isn't
fair that so many people, young and old have to suffer because the
scale is tipped by the weight of gold. Let those who have made
unjust choices, finally face themselves with the admition of their wrong doings.
Let them awake tomorrow morning from their warm beds, and iron-gated
properties to the realization that there is in fact, a more compassionate way to be.
And one more thing Santa...please give to me the faith I need to be mindful and wise, courageous
and true, loving and patient, willing and inspirational for the benefit of my family and friends,
and all sentient beings. This is going to be the best Christmas ever!!!
Thanks Santa, for keeping it real!
Yours,

<div>Dear Friends,

This is the 3rd anniversary of the invasion of Iraq that we all tried to prevent.

Please join us at the Venice Circle of Peace (Main &amp; Windward):

Noon - 2pm, Saturday, March 18

Open Mic (5 minutes are less) -

Bring signs, kids, friends, bells and whistles

Demand:
Immediate Withdrawal of Troops
Cut the Military Budget
Civil Liberties, not the Patriot Act
Money for Housing, not War (Save Lincoln Place)
Money for Health Care, not War
Money for Education, not War
Money to help the Homeless, not War
Moratorium on Overdevelopment (No to RAD's condos)

Peaceful, active communities are the antidote to corporate greed and war!

The Circle of Peace vigil has been going on every week since October. It is unique in that it is a peace and justice vigil. We are concerned about the war on the poor as well as the war in Iraq.
The sponsors are the Venice Peace Movement and the Venice Peace &amp; Freedom Chapter. More sponsors are welcome.

When my ego doth confess,
No circumstance revisited.
And if and when don't stand a chance
To recognize that truth be told to
Have the wisdom
To now dispose of Fear
You will not hold me down there, Dear

<div>An open heart
Is one that
Knows
True love
It is not fleeting
Completion of
The other part
Another whole heart
Beating.

I've felt and read
That love is real
When it changes the life
You are living
Now only love
Can cure me of
What lost I
From the beginning

The wisdom that
Love, an eternal flame
With giving and receiving
Knoweth honest hearts
Doth not decline
The trueness of just being

No shallow grave
Do I dare save
In my dear hearts'
Illusion
For true love
Is a key
On a ring of debris
It unlocks
And is free
In one motion

No one can take away your love
But you can die quiet inside it
Living like you don't need a thing
So stuck in your ways
Till the end of your days
Stubborn and chained
To a world you defame
When loves all around you
But your too numb and bound
Your a child
Living love, lost, decay...

But one day
You'll awake
And what great love you'll make
Just in believing it true!
For when given a chance
In this chaotic dance
Love is a fire built in you.
Love is a fire built in you.</div>

<div>Wow, is it really almost the end of the year!? I hope everyone is grateful for all that they have, and all that they dont have. I think Sinead O'Conner said it best..."I do not want what I have not got." I feel very fotunate to be alive and living in a world where I am able to express myself. Peoples civil liberties are constantly being oppressed, and the more we artists, individually shine our bright lights of goodness, the better it is for everyone. Happy Holidays to all of you bright, shining beings, and may 2006 be the year your dreams came true.
With Love,

<div>
The Promise

Tell me of
the day
and all the Joy and Love filled fusion,
On how you danced with Halloweens
delivered union

Of all your guests
and of all the tastings
Of
all the splendour
and of all the love
good makings!

Of how the treasure is
the hearts we bear in mind
So as to always know
the good in silent times.

Of all the faith and strength it
takes, to make the babes
that nestle heads in softest arms
to lay, thy head and thank
this very moment for the next,
and next there
make.

I am very happy that
your tastings
made devotion to each placement
of your trusting souls encasing
standing next to thine,
and facing, one another,
for the promise.</div>

Who Are They?

<div>Who are they to cut that tree?
Well that's their tree,
They cut it, See?
Who are they to cut that tree?
I really liked my privacy.
Now one clear glance
And they can see
Just what I'm doing
Just where I'll be.
Who asked the birds
That lived there, See?
Who cut that tree so rigidly?
Without much thought,
Without much care,
I wish they'd ask before they dared.
Now I'm angry at who cut that tree!
Those who can
Just do it, See?!
That tree is gone
And now I'm sad
And the birds told me
That they are also mad.
Farewell, old friend
Farewell my tree
Know when I'm looking out my window
I am missing thee.
And thankyou for being
And thankyou for cover
I will never forget what
You gave me, my brother.</div>

<div>Lovely you
So good and true
soft and sweet and gentle
Lovely me
Quite in the mood
for blueberry continental
Earths sentimental
Complete and nuturing
berry,
Oh how I'd marry you
This instant
And instead of a
white wedding gown
We'd float in milk
And dance around

Hindu Festival Of Lights

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/vessymink/blog/4027db95-6101-4519-a22e-6c7c2547dda5"> <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/7ee/394/7ee3947d-60a4-4cdd-95b6-d6088756c497.thumb" width="65" height="48" alt="" />
    </a>
<div>Deepavali (the Hindu Festival of Lights) is on the 1st of November this
year. By tradition, on this day Ganesh and Lakshmi are worshipped for
removal of all obstacles and smooth
ascent to success and prosperity.

In Indian philosophy, dharma is upheld as the prime responsibility that a
person is entrusted with. Sunlight, lamp or light is representative of
&amp;lsquo;dharma.&rsquo; Deepawali literally means a series of lamps or Deepak. By
lighting lamps, devotees embrace dharma and demonstrate their devotion.
Lakshmi is said to visit and bestow her gifts to a household that is
resplendent in lights. On the same day, gifts are exchanged between people
which is symbolic of movement of wealth.

Lakshmi is symbolic of wealth and beauty. Lakshmi is the symbol of life,
nourishment and happiness.

Wealth and power are dispassionate and impersonal. One can never
carry one&amp;rsquo;s wealth after death. It is left behind just as the seat of
power and position left vacant for another deserving person. This is the
reason why it is believed that Lakshmi has no favorites. Her duty is to
maintain the rhythm of life. A bowl of rice satiates hunger; a blanket
wards off cold; a beggar and a king are both subject to hunger and cold;
both need sustenance and shelter.

Lakshmi stays with someone as long as the person is worthy of her.

The Sea God Varuna is known as Lakshmi&amp;rsquo;s father. This is also
symbolic as the sea is the ultimate source of water, thus life. The waves
and their movement bring to the shore but never take anything. Varuna is
acclaimed as one of the most benevolent figure-heads; wealthy and
boundless in generosity. The ebb and tide of the ocean reminds us of the
rise and fall of fortune. Wealth is like water, it must flow, otherwise it
stagnates and brings death and destruction.

Ancient scriptures depict that we are born and reborn till we balance our
karmic debts and understand who we are and the purpose of life. To do this
we must live and to live we must have nourishment and experience life to
the fullest till there are no unfulfilled desires. To fulfill our desires
we need wealth and happiness. Lakshmi is the source for all such
resources. She is the consort of Vishnu the preserver and the bestower of
affluence and auspiciousness.

The spirit of Deepawali is essentially one of warmth and sharing. As Sri
Ramakrishna says, &amp;#8220;the Devil never enters the house wherein songs in
praise of God are always sung.&#8221;

Be in tune with Goddess Lakshmi and her benevolence and keep your house
clean and tidy on this day. Let there be no regret in your heart for
anything. There is a saying in Bengali that goes, &amp;#8220;this sorrow would have
been so much more painful, had it not been a gift of God&amp;#8221;!

                                                                            </div>

L.A. DeCom 2005

<div>I did not get a chance to go to Burning Man this year, but L.A. DeCom was a BLAST! I arrived downtown L.A. with Disorienters, Eli and Tedjwa at about 3:30pm. It was just starting to get going and the sky was scattered with pretty cloud formations basked in mid- day sunshine. Slowly but surely, underneath the bridge at 1st St. and Vignes, freaks of all kinds gathered to dance the night away in costumes still playa-fyed. I ran into one of my sweethearts from Chicago, when I was 14. Brendans face was painted like a tiger cat and we recognized one another instantly. My Japanese friends from BM 2004 were also there! They were all clad in funeral black, but with playa dust all over. They looked like they just returned from the future. I got my dance on for over 3 hours at the fantastical, wired Unicorn sculpture. There is where I mostly stayed, dancing and doing capoeira with Amir and Danny, Gisele, Raquel, Wetzel and many others. Amir and I even did an impromptu photo shoot, which was so much fun! Also had a great time with Free, Mimi, Arman, Afsaneh, Robo and Wendy in the fuzzy, multi colored super van. Ran into my dear, beautiful friend, Inbal, who just recently returned from a 5 month trip in South America. All in all, this was a day to remember. People gathered on the bridge to look down below and catch the magical craziness that was accompanied by super, duper break beats and exuberant artists of all kinds. I am very happy that I was there. Thankyou Afsaneh for saving me with the shoes! </div>

<div>Tonight was yet another Super Fabulous~ LOVE~ filled evening, bringing us Back, to the heart of the matter. I had the honor of performing at The Edgemar Theatre tonight, alongside some of the most poignant, politically charged, expressionistic, humor filled musical artists of our time. From Brad Kay's version of Shreveport Stomp(by Jelly Roll Morton), to the divine songstress blendings of Venice's own, Suzy Williams(who by the way, catapulted Bessie Smith tunes right through the whole audience and universe!), to Alfred Johnson's new smash hit, (giving you the unfathomable details of despair and displacement alongside hope, courage and honor in New Orleans), with A Host of Horrors, to the ever so lovely Todd Washington covering Steve Earl, Robin Ford and his own true blue song, The Promise, "love brings our hearts to a place where we pledge to stay forever my love." The brilliant Anne Randolph (star of Squeeze Box, a one woman show blowing away audiences left and right), charismatically won her way right into everyone's psyche while Leon Rubenholds' sweet, down home revival, trickling blues deliciousness, made many hearts smile! Edward LaGrossa brought a sing a long Bob Dillion classic to the Edgemar Theatre tonight while the infamous, David Zasloff's witty "Zen Judaism" meditations boasted much good vibe and health-full, Deep Laughter. Tonight was a night to remember! Thankyou to all who came out to support this wonderful cause. And if anyone out there wants to help out more, by going to New Orleans and rescuing the thousands of starving animals that are still alive, get in contact with me immediately or go to www.unleashthebeach.org </div>

    </a>
										<div>Hi Angel,

Dakini Day is the celebration of the Female Buddhas, the Mothers of all Buddhas, the Mothers of Compassion. A Dakini is a SkyDancer -- one like Green Tara, White Tara, Yeshe Tsogyal (Guru Rinpoche's (otherwise known as Padmasambhava's) "Wisdom Consort"), Red Tara, Vajrayogini, etc.

All the fully-realized Feminine aspects of the Divine.

You ARE a Dakini. So happy Dakini Day right back to you! :)

And you ARE a Daka (or male Buddha, like Guru Rinpoche/Padmasambhava, or Shakyamuni Buddha, or any of the other "divine masculine" manifestations of Buddha) as well. Just as I am. And as everyone else is, too.

The essence of Tantra is union of the Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine, within.

We do tsok, or feasts/offerings, on each Daka Day and Dakini Day and Shakyamuni Buddha day, to remember that we ARE that. And to offer all that we are, to manifestation of That which We Are. Always.

So. That's the gig. I particularly get a kick out of Dakini's Day, because I am embodied as a Female, and hence I love to honor and celebrate and bring in fully the Divine Mother of Compassion. Dakini Day falls always on the 25th lunar day of each month . . . I'll keep you posted, in case you don't have access to that kind of calendar.

And yes yes YES, please come stay and SING and play for the weekend of Phowa teachings.

The voice is coming through me so clearly, so crystal clear and pure and happy and full of JOY and LOVE, these days. Especially when I sing. Last Saturday, I got 3 different marriage proposals -- literally! -- just because I was singing Deva Premal's "Ide Were Were" from her CD "Love Is Space." Guess that the Infinite, Unconditional LOVE was spilling forth! :)

Love you bunches, sweet Vessy, and I can't wait to see you soon!

Dead Can Dance at The Hollywood Bowl, Sunday September 25th 2005

    </a>
<div>Sunday, September 25th was a MAGICAL evening...Dead Can Dance graced Los Angeles with their Dark, Angelic presence, circling, inviting, dreamy, vibratory, cascading and fantastical! The magestics of this evening were astounding as Lisa Gerard and Brendan Perry's monumental vocals filled up the bowl. 2 white laser beam lights crossed overhead, forming a perfect medicine wheel in the deep cobalt blue and sweetly cool sky... We were all Mesmerized...
The Tantalizing Orchestra was very visible facing the audience directly behind the duo, known to all as Dead Can Dance. And if there was a night when the dead do dance, it was certainly last night. DCD did 3 Encores!
What a night! I imagined all the fire dancers, stilt walkers, and other magical beings that we are surrounded by, lighting their pois, Avant Garde Spectacular, while twirling and dancing throughout every level of the Hollywood Bowl...I could see them there in my minds eye...Now who out there in Tribeland is friends with Dead Can Dance and can make this dreamy circus fire tour happen? It is a MUST MANIFESTIVAL.
If they only knew who was in the audience last night!
Dressed to the nines in velvet suits, gowns and top hats, Pagan Pride Filled Magic Makers, were everywhere. Blessed Be.</div>
