OPENING RECEPTION

"Simple Geometry"

The Historic Monadnock Building
685 Market Street, floors 3, 4 &amp; 5
San Francisco, CA
5 pm - 7 pm

Curator's statement:

Geometric abstraction draws upon discernable shapes and definitive borders to create a level of interpretive comfort for the viewer based on form recognition. These simple forms, once they are mutually understood as definitive forms by both artist and viewer, become the basis for exploring repetition and patterns, color interplay and figure/ground relationships.
- Matt McKinley

After a wee bit of a hiatus from things, I'm back to announce the opening of a three-person show I'm a part of in downtown SF. I was chosen for the show by the ArtWork SF crew, and they selected six of my paintings - three of which, "Krishna &amp; Arjuna", "Jacob's Ladder" and "Sophia: the Thirteenth Aeon", have only been shown once before. If you didn't get a chance to see them when they were shown at Synergenesis I, II &amp; III, I encourage you to come by.

Even if you have seen them before, I'd love it if you came by after work on Tuesday and had a drink with me in the Monadnock Building. We can chat about the vicissitudes we encountered in 2007.

Parking is possible on the surrounding streets, or you could try one of these: Map of Parking near 685 Market St. : http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?formtype=address&amp;latlongtype=findit&amp;address=685%20Market%20St&amp;city=San%20Francisco&amp;state=CA&amp;zipcode=94105%2d4200&amp;country=US&amp;latitude=ClQ4bwRIUHt3X7j4Ml8EKw%3d%3d&amp;longitude=XDN7w3aAPJxaP%2bXvDXnGVA%3d%3d&amp;cat=parking

    </a>
<div>That's where you'll see my marks on the playa this year.
The Conexus Cathedral will be at 1:00, to the right of the man's ear as you're facing him. During the day you should see the Rose Window - my personal contribution to the Cathedral project.
Look for the Entheon Village (you can't miss it!) at 4:00 and Esplanade. One of the structures will be the Visionary Art Dome. I'll be camped there, too.

Can't wait to hang out at home with you....

VIBRATA is offensive to citizens.

<div>I think the phrase is, "WELL, I NEVER!" My sweetie ordered a personalized license plate with "VIBRATA" on it for my birthday. Lately I've been wondering what's delaying the delivery of this lovely gift. Well, today I got a letter from the DMV. Here's the gist of it:

"Unfortunately, we are unable to approve the requested license plate configuration for the following reason(s):
     1. California Vehicle Code, Section 501(a), states, we must refuse
any license plate configuration which carries connotations offensive
to good taste and decency, or which may be misleading to some of our citizens.

Which citizens!!!????
OMFG, my name is in bad taste! Who's going to invite me to parties NOW? I'm so ashamed.
