No, I'm not planning on joining the "Red Hat Society" just yet, (but I did join Weight Watchers a few weeks ago).
I was really dreading this particular birthday for a couple of reasons.
I had a close friend and co-worker who died within a month after turning 50, and another close friend and co-worker who now is fighting breast cancer which was discovered within a year after she turned - yep- fifty.
Now even though I know that turning 50 is not the cause of these particular tragedies, it has still been weighing on my mind for the past few years. I was determined NOT to celebrate my impending birthday (on September 27th).
But lo and behold, my beloved children and hubby planned and executed a wonderful surprise party for me. I was so happy to see all of them again, because they're kind of scattered around and we only all get together at Christmas anymore.
So here I am, wearing my "Red Hat" (a birthday gift) proudly, happy in knowing how much I love my family and am loved in return.
