Having watched Norm sharing the Sword Dance here. I found myself deeply moved by the way in which he allowed himself to become one with this most powerful prop.
A weopon that represents Air,Life and even Passage if mistreated in any way..I felt in observing His dance, an amazingly strong passion and Respect he held as he moved with the sword, and the sword moved with him....
Thank you for teaching us the power, and even the gentleness that the sword brings to our dance...

about me
Currently the lone male belly dancer in the fine city of Pittsburgh. I've been a student of the lovely and talented Kari Merlina-Kizina since 2003. I've also studied under Olivia Kissel since 2005 and occasional taking classes with Maria Hamer. I'm a member of the Pittsburgh based Dance, Storytelling and Music troupe called Moquette Volante.

Well that was short. We were going to go up to Erie for the Pittsburgh Bellies event, but the weather had another idea. We got as far as Zelienople, but the snow was just too much for us. In fact, as we tried to get off of 79 to get to Zelie, we ...

Sorry for the last notice, but I only found out the schedule recently. This saturday is the SCS Days at Carnegie Mellon University. It is where the people in the department show that they can do things outside of work. I'll be teaching two beginner Belly Dance workshops: 3-4:30pm and 4:30 to 6pm. Then running to the performance at 6pm! All this will happen at the University Center on CMU campus.

Well that was short. We were going to go up to Erie for the Pittsburgh Bellies event, but the weather had another idea. We got as far as Zelienople, but the snow was just too much for us. In fact, as we tried to get off of 79 to get to Zelie, we slid and slipped and went into the other left lane. Scary stuff. Stopped at the Pizza Hut, and heard from Kristi that she only made it to Slippery Rock before turning back. I feel bad for missing the event that Carla put so much effort into, but t...

Today Jenda and I went to the Greater Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival [ www.pgh-renfest.com/] and had a rocking good time. The last time we went was just about four years ago while it was still under different management. Some things were different, but it was mostly the same. What pleased me was the number of people who I saw who I recognized. Playing at the gate was my friend Karl's Irish band. Inside was Darcy, Jen and Jaz of Kaffif with JT and two musicians that I haven't yet bee...

I'm searching out people who have taken pictures of my performances either in Pittsburgh or at Pennsic. I'd like to collect them in one spot. If you have some, or know where they are, could you send me a link or a copy? Thanks!
