about me
Attended Burning Man '99-'07. One of the original members of the Solo Collective theme camp in '00. Musical Director of SCARAB Camp (Society for Creative Arts and Radio at Burning Man) '02-'07. Disc jockey on Radio Electra on the playa, '01-'07. I've been performing in bands in Austin for 26 years, and have 3 CDs out with my old band Snipe Hunt ( www.myspace.com/snipehuntaustin) and also 11 solo releases (hear at www.myspace.com/waltehresman; buy at www.cdbaby.com/all/snipe). Also a stint in '07-'08 playing lead guitar with the band Los Platos, feat. Texacala Jones of Tex and the Horseheads fame. Formed new band in Spring of '08, Delphi Rising, with ex-Snipe Vic Ramirez ( www.myspace.com/delphirisingband). I spent the first 11 years of my career enforcing environmental laws in a state that doesn't want them enforced (this was the Shrub's gift to Texas when he was Governor). Texas politics (now mirrored nationally) has certainly given me many song topics..... Also, like so many, Burning Man changed my life by providing a canvas where I could cavort and create things amongst free-spirited people. The experiment was a grand one in its day. I made friends there that are like family to me. Oh,............ and I have a strong jones for silly hats, and am the Eternal Minister of Chilis and Dubious Anthems in the cabinet of the government of Ladonia ( www.ladonia.net).

How can this be?! Walt is smart as a whip, wildly creative, musically talented (with a wonderful singing voice to boot). . .and yet, there’s no big ego in sight! For someone who has every right to be full of himself, Walt is so down to earth and kind. . .a beautiful soul. How lucky am I to be a part of this SCARAB family, especially when I have someone like Walt watching my back.

Walt is one of my most solid Burning Man Buddies! Great to share a shopt with....crack a cold brewski with, or just cruise the playa in a not so perfect working order kind of condition. He makes ass kicking cd's as well. I judge my friends on how well they can be counted on, and Walt is on of the most solid! Can't wait to see him again! We will definitely put yet another bender on this fall Walt!

Walt-Snipe is that rarest of beings, a lawyer with a soul. His attributes range from a felicity with words (expected in a lawyer) to a kick-ass, nasty-good way with a guitar (less expected) to a fervent passion for the rights of the citizen and the environment in an era of ever-expanding government intrusion (totally unexpected and likely to lose him his "Esquire"). He is kind to his friends and those he finds exploited, and fearless in the face of Fascism, wherever he finds it. He is a Good Guy with the talent and training of a top-notch musician and song-writer. The only thing that saves him from being a total pain-in-the-ass How-Come-You-Aint-So-Committed Role Model is his endearing lack of technical prowess. Don't let him near your computer, trust me.
