My Blog I finished my conference in Honolulu. Intense. Two presentations, several interviews. Nuff said. I had to get out of the city. I didn't even venbture to the beach during the conference. I decided to come to Maui and found this hostel on the net (Banana Bungalow). It seemed like a hokey name but there really are banana trees all around the hostel (and guava, mango and avocado). I sniffed all over the state looking for a new mate , like an old hound whose master has passed on. I wasn't going to spend too much... I wasn't going to get a convertible (this IS Michigan) I tried a couple of '94 4 cylinder non-turbos they were ...sad and weak. ..worn out ....broke my heart. Difficult to talk about ...Saab is dead. I can't give details. She had just come from the Saab doctor (that's her and her twin at the Saab Dr). He fixed her tranny and switches , too. On the way home she blew. She went out in a literal blaze of glory ( doing what she loved most: passing another car, of course).

I had to put in two extra and extra long days ...and not looking forward to Sunday .. (I have to spend all day cleaning) and then a friend asked me to drive him to and from hospital on Wed.and how could I say no? And I 'm seeing my week off, eaten up and I have so much work to do… work I love… work I’ve been waiting and waiting to do..I’m so sad ...desperate sad ..I need and want to do my school work. My academic universe is expanding at the speed of life. Where to begin? Well, my paper was accepted for publication. It is peer reviewed and in the ACA archives but it didn't make the hard copy. But still, not too bad for a Master's student. I just hope nobody reads it ...and I hope everybody cites it! My proposal is tentatively accepted for my doc program ...and have awful writer's block now, on the final draft. Two of my professors want to do publis... read more
