I've been saddened by the inactivity on Tribe. It's like watching the slow death of a civilization.
I've always been a sap for Apocalypse stories, movies and books. Not sure why. I was on my own as a kid a lot. Spent time in the woods. I was sometimes hungry, cold, wet or lost and I wondered how people survive in the woods.

Kings Cross
Yesterday was three days rolled into one. Elizabeth and I took a tour van to the caves. That was an hour and a half ride. Daryl was our guide. He knows the countryside, the animal life, forests and history intimately and has a keen appreciation for all of it. “I’m local fellow who “doesn’t know any better”, he said. “It probably doesn’t get much better”, I replied.

Train to Katoomba,

Making connections is not easy. Elizabeth, my travel-mate (fellow student from UNE) has a phone, I have a computer. It’s a miracle we could coordinate a trip together. She stayed across town, and I stayed in the hostel. We agreed to get a late start so we could rest a bit today.
My hostel has a laundry room on the roof. The roof is like a patio, you know, tables chairs, ashtrays! There is also a clothesline on the rooftop and I was glad. Everything would smell like Syd... read more

I’ve finally landed in Armidale. That was a stressful process. The trains were full (Pope week) and I had only one choice of bus schedules, so I arrived in Armidale at midnight not knowing if anything would be open, taxis, motels, most towns we passed were shut down tight …ominous... the website had zilch for contact information.
