I've been saddened by the inactivity on Tribe. It's like watching the slow death of a civilization.
I've always been a sap for Apocalypse stories, movies and books. Not sure why. I was on my own as a kid a lot. Spent time in the woods. I was sometimes hungry, cold, wet or lost and I wondered how people survive in the woods.
One of my favorite apocalyptic books is "Into the Forest". It's setting is so possible and convincing. A couple of academic/hippy types living off the beaten path are ... read more

Armidale

I’ve finally landed in Armidale. That was a stressful process. The trains were full (Pope week) and I had only one choice of bus schedules, so I arrived in Armidale at midnight not knowing if anything would be open, taxis, motels, most towns we passed were shut down tight …ominous... the website had zilch for contact information.
I knew the university was at least 45 minutes away on foot, but had no idea how to get there. It wasn’t as cold as I had expected and I wondered if the ... read more
