Seamless Dancing: Noon – 2:00pm
This class will begin with a brief warm-up and move on to drilling movements, but with a twist! A series of combinations will be introduced, focusing on creating smooth and continuous lines with the body, with a few pops and locks thrown in for fun. These combinations will be put together for a short choreography. Belly dance experience is highly recommended.

About Kami:
Kami’s style is what she calls a modern fusion of an ancient dance. Although she is primarily a tribal dancer, she pulls from the various styles of belly dance that she has studied, as well as modern, hip hop, jazz, and bhangra dance. Her goal is to always be a student of dance and to constantly expand her repertoire. Kami has performed and taught internationally and is currently touring with Bellydance Superstars.

<div>I want to go see Abney Park at The Edison next weekend, but don't want to have to drive back tired on a holiday weekend... especially after two people were just killed drving home from Perversion this week by a wrongway drunk driver! o_O

Anyone in the area going to the show that I can crash with that night or wanna carpool and get a hotel room with for the night?

Remember, Monday is Memorial Day so for all us 9-5ers, it's most likely a day off (it is for me)!

<div>1. I and my friends Heather and Jen are vending at the Adams Avenue Roots Festival this weekend. We have pretty things to wear and things that smell pretty. Come visit and buy our stuff. ^_^ We are near 34th, right in front of A la Française.

2. This morning after setting up a young guy came by with a cute dog. They stopped so she could take a drink in the water dish we brought and to get some head sritches. He said he was looking for a home for her as his neighbors had turned her out and he couldn't afford to keep her, but didn't want her wandering the streets. His heart was in the right place, but he wasn't being quite as careful as he could have been.

When he tried to keep walking on she didn't want to leave. She was just plum tuckered. She finally got up when she saw some kids and he went on. Jen thought we could help her out better and so she ran after him and got the dog. Booth dog for a day!

She's really cute. A 7-8 month old lab/pit and/or boxer mix - looks more lab. Black with a little white stripe going up her nose and white dipped paws. She has big paws so she has more growing to do. She loves people and children, is happy and not food agressive. A lover! She does need to be socialized with other dogs (we got her to like little dogs and puppies today at the festival - now to work on big dogs). She is an all around very good dog. Oh! She walks on the leash beautifully! No pulling! I wish one of us would have had a camera so you could see how adorable she is.

Here's the thing - The very nice lady at Pet Me Please offered to take her home for the night, but we need to figure out something by tomorrow or else it's the Human Society for her as none of us can take her. The PMP lady will bring her back to the booth tomorrow morning. If you know of someone looking for a dog or someone that can foster her until a forever home can be found, please contact me ASAP.

I will have my mobile with me at the festival tomorrow. If you don't have my number, you probably know someone that does (sorry - no posting of numbers here, even if friend's only). I will check my mail before I leave at 7:30am.</div>

Deb' Workshop:
Engaging the Core - Slow and Slinky
12:00-2:00

Dive into a jar of molasses! In this workshop, we will deepen our slow, ooey-gooey moves to achieve that slinky, sultry, intoxication look and feel of Tribal Bellydance. Drawing from yoga, pilates, feldenkrais, and Deb’s personal ‘stash”, this workshop will focus on core integration, spinal articulation, and building the foundational strength and flexibility in the hips, spine, and shoulders to directly support controlled, snake-like dancing; create ‘floating upper body’ dance posture for stage; and enage in healthy backbending and lay-backs to save your low back. All this will be applied to bellydance technique, and juicy fusion combos and choreography. She has often been coined the ‘Queen of slink”. Come learn Deb’s unique tribal stylization.

Rose's Workshop:
Rocking the Core
2:30-4:30

Enhance and deepen your understanding of belly dance fundamentals with technique drills and tribal fusion combos. We will cover layering, shimmies, and up-tempo movements, great for any style of belly dance. This exciting Tribal Fusion workshop will include Rose's signature Core Integration material focused on building flexibility and targeted muscle group conditioning to improve your dancing. You will also learn a short choreography that highlights Rose's dynamic approach to contemporary belly dance.

Private lessons available!
Deb and Rose will both be available for private lessons while they are in San Diego. Please email info@tribalsdstyle.com to reserve a spot.

    </a>
<div>There is some music that just goes perfectly with rainy days. Since we seem to be in wet period here in good ole SD, I grabbed some cd’s to load to a playlist at work so it will just play all day. There is more rainy day music in my collection, but here's what I have loaded so far:

God is an Astronaut: instrumental, stirs the emotions
All is Violent, All is Bright
The End of the Beginning

David Sylvian: this man's voice makes me melt everytime
Dead Bees on a Cake

Michael J. Sheehy: saw him open for peter murphy a few years back. increadible. lovely music with biting lyrics. listening it's all nice and then you tune in to what he's saying and you're all... oh.. oh! very nice.

Ill Gotten Gains
No Longer My Concern
Sweet Blue Gene

Dream City Film Club: michael's earlier group. how did i not ever hear this band when they were together? excellent stuff.

Dream City Film Club
In the Cold Light of Morning

Mazzy Star: yeah, we all know them. seriously need to check out projects since the ms days.

Among My Swan
She Hangs Brightly
So Tonight That I Might See

Swans: always a favorite. i think this is my favorite of all their albums.
The Burning World</div>

On Saturday, February 16 and Sunday, February 17, Tribal SDstyle will continue that Love'ing feeling by hosting two 4 hour workshops at Dance Place San Diego. Check-in starts at 11:30am each day. 1/2 hour break each day.

Dance Place San Diego
2650 Truxtun Road
San Diego, CA 92106

Saturday, Feb 16, 2008
12:00-4:30pm
Studio 107

Skillet of Snakes
Day one delivers combinations for quicker tempos. Using combinations in improvisational dance is a good way to keep your head whilst striving for variety and contrast. Movements will be broken down and drilled. Combinations will be joined together to form a short, original choreography. Some belly dance experience highly recommended.

Sunday, Feb 17, 2008
12:00-4:30pm
Studio 105 (across from Studio 107)

The Sweet and Low Down
Another day another dance, but today drops itself into a jar of molasses. Mardi presents combinations borne out of her slow-dancin bag of tricks. New movements are introduced, as well as new takes on some basic slower moves in the tribal repertoire. Some belly dance experience highly recommended.

Registration: http://mardilovetribalsdstyle.eventbrite.com
$80 each or save $10 and register for both at $150
Pre-registration is highly recommended. These workshops will sell out.

So come and get some Love in San Diego on February 14, 16 and 17.

    </a>
<div>recently i was out with a friend chatting, don't remember how we got there now, but i mentioned amazon and she said, "oh don't buy from them, they sell dog fighting magazines." i was shocked...even moreso that i hadn't heard anything about it. she said her husband had written to amazon several times and their response was basically, we serve our customer base.

wtf? not only is this stuff a felony, it's reprehensible in every sense.

i was on an internet hiatus over the holidays for the most part... not so much intentionally, but it just worked out that way. i went to amazon today to check it out. not that i didn't believe her, but i wanted to check it out for myself.

not only do they sell dog fighting literature of all sorts, they sell cock fighting stuff as well. i perused user comments and looked at the materials. i am without words at the response from amazon - several comments were very similar to the response my friend received.

wow. just.... wow.</div>

Yep, it's a banking system for a correctional facility - Maryland Reception, Diagnostic and Classification Center. Pretty fancy term for a Jail

    </a>
<div>I'm at the tail end of a cold and with the rain, I decided the salad I had planned to bring just would not do. soup was in order for lunch today so i went to fujiyama for nabe udon.

well, i can't go to a japanese place and not have sushi, so i got one order of my favorite - ono nigiri.

soup comes and i dig in. yummy, steaming hot goodness. had to remove my glasses as they were steaming up.

then, sushi chef kenny makes me his yummy little sushi salad - delicate greans with tiny bits of sushi topped off with a miso ginger dressing. it's so cute. really. it's small, served in a little 3x3 square dish with the corners turned up.

so, in front of me i now have my empty ono plate, giant udon cast iron bowl, and salad.

then, i hear - "a special scallop for you." someone had ordered this yummy looking baked scallop appetizer and the chef made one extra for me. chopped scallops with slightly spicy pepper oil - the stuff you get on hamachi kama sometimes - all baked/served in the scallop shell. delish!

i had also ordered hot tea. they serve gen mai cha as their regular green tea - also my fav. it got warm (it's served really hot to start), so the waitress insisted on getting me a fresh cup because hot tea should be hot.

no wonder i love going there. yummy food and nice owner/staff! someday we should all make a trip up here to rb for dinner.

<div>a while back i got some yarn really cheap and i thought it would be great to knit some scarves for kids in a tj orphanage a friend of mine volunteers at occassionally. i don't have much time and it would take me forever to knit all of them, so i thought it would be fun to have a stitch-n-bitch session to get them all done faster. also, it's way more fun to knit when you can gab with others.

the orphanage has kids from 6 months to 17 1/2. if you have some spare yarn from other projects, bring it along! perhaps some of you that know how could make hats for the wee ones that don't have much hair yet?

don't knit, but you crochet? bring yer hooks!

here's what i thought:

sunday, 11/25
11:00am till we get tired
claire de lune - http://www.clairedelune.com/
~ comfy chairs, good lighting, coffee, snacks....

i'm sure there will be more yarn that knitters or time since this is last minute, so i'll probably do another session soon.</div>

    </a>
<div>Hey folks. We have had a few item donations so we thought we'd have a door prize drawing during the intermission of the evening show. So far we have the Tribal Fusions DVD donated by Heather Stants and Class Cards donated by Sabrina Fox. Bonnie thinks she just might have a pair of pants somewhere. ;p

If you have anything that you would like to donate, please contact Juliet at http://people.tribe.net/tribaljewel.

The trick is, you have to present at the show to win. ^__^
