Anna is like my personal oliver sacks. She tells me all sorts of fascinating stories about people with brain lesions and I frequently consult her regarding the neurosciency and film stuff.

about me
Just graduated MIT with degrees in Brain + Cognitive Science and Writing. The brain fascinates me. I do (and have done) lots of really cool neuroscience research.
I'm a documentary filmmaker, finishing up post-production on a feature-length documentary. This year, I'm a filmmaker-in-residence at WGBH. I'm obsessed with adventure travel -- that is, embarking on crazy trips in remote locations. My next adventure will be to retrace Fridtjof Nansen's original route across the ice cap in Greenland (and make a movie about it). In two months, I'll be riding a wooden board down the side of an active volcano in Nicaragua. I really can't wait. I miss NYC like crazzzy. flickr www.flickr.com/photos/annawexler/ old site: web.mit.edu/annaw/www new site (coming soon): www.annawexler.com

On New Years I went to Iceland to visit two friends that I'd traveled with in Egypt a few years back... Had the best time that I'd had in years... the Reykjavik scene is HOT and I'm so priveleged to have gotten an insider's perspective! After a quick stop in Paris (another amazing city) I moved on to Madrid, where I'm studying Spanish over the month of January. It feels great to be on the road again - it's been wayyyy too long!

London Decom (Dec 2 2005) rocked. Finally got around to uploading some photos... this is what I did with my dreads. I cut wire hangers into three different sections and tied about three dreads around each wire, holding it tight with pipecleaners at the base and rubber bands at the top. Thanks to Rich for doing all the hard work on my hair...

Just spent an insane three weeks continuing to shoot the documentary (heetorer.com) in Israel. Filmmaking is a crazzzy business. At times we felt like we'd just sunk tens of thousands of dollars into a giant black pit ... at others we felt on the verge of creating a brilliant film.

And because my life has been revolving around this film, I guess I didn't do my research on Cambridge. Ummmm... holy shit. I'm living in Peterhouse college, which was established way back in the 1200's. Check out the picture. This whole city is straight out of harry potter or charles dickens. A bit too proper for me and my dreds... but we'll see how it goes.
My friend and I are throwing a house party in Queens.

featuring kegs, live music, roomfuls of balloons, open canvases, and more. a bit crazier than your average house party but nothing too insane. Near 71st and Continental stop on E, F, G, R. starting 11pm-ish. all are welcome - let me know and I'll give you specific directions.
