Moving in with Bats

I'm settled in my new place. Feels good to have a safe space to lay my head every night...

Monday night, my daughter came down and told me there were bats in the house. There were two of them flying around in the alcove and bedrooms upstairs. We tried opening a window, and closed the bedroom doors to confine them to a smaller space. They swirled around the alcove a few times more, then went back into the attic storage space that opens onto the alcove. They disappeared, so I think that's where they got in. I've closed off that space for the moment, but plan to get in there and see where they're getting in the house. I suspect we might have bats living in the attic above the rooms. We'll have to see what to do about it.

Luckily, I like bats, and they weren't aggressive. It's a small space and having them whooshing by us was a fun close encounter with nature, but I really don't want it to be a regular occurrence!

Wow, that sounds like a magical experience! And yet, it's probably not good to have an extended house-sharing arrangement with those critters...

I'm eager to hear more about your new place - maybe I'll see you tonight.
