Now Accepting Scripts

Now that the screenplay project I've been working on is an award-winning screenplay on it's way to being a major motion picture, I'm now branching out into Script Consultation.

If you or someone you know has a screenplay they are are working on and would like their script read and critiqued by a professional creative consultant, I am accepting new clients at $100 per session. Each session includes a private phone consultation and a one or two-page summary of notes and suggestions on ways to improve the emotional impact of your screenplay.

I can also work with you on overcoming writer's block and creative brainstorming.

A Birthday Wish for Steena

Several months ago, after I left my home in Seattle to come to Mexico, my best friend Steena called me with some wonderful news—she was pregnant with her second child. She was overwhelmed with Joy. Then a couple of months later, I received another phone call from Steena. This time, the news was not good. She has breast cancer.

Steena has been undergoing some chemotherapy but her pregnancy makes it difficult to treat the tumors aggressively. Her baby is due in September, however they may have to induce labor early in order to perform a mastectomy to save her life.

She has a two-year old daughter who loves her and needs her, and a supportive and loving husband who is doing all he can to pay for the skyrocketing medical costs not covered by insurance. He will soon have to take an unpaid leave of absence to care for his wife and daughter and with a new child on the way, this young family faces financial ruin.

Steena has been like a sister to me, and after loosing my own sister to breast cancer in 2000, this news hit me like a ton of bricks. Steena has been and continues to be one of the most amazing angels ever to walk this earth. She cares about the world, recycles, is a vegetarian, picks up litter, feeds the birds, writes letters, volunteers, helps the homeless, cares for the sick and elderly, speaks out against injustice and cruelty, I could go on and on, but in short, she is my hero. Steena is the kind of friend who will go out of her way for you. She remembers birthdays and sends hand-made cards. She will defend you and stand up to the biggest of bullies on your behalf. She sits with you when you're tragic and holds your hand and will be silent with you if that's all you want. She never judges, she just lets you be...

My Birthday is coming up on August 3rd. Many of my family and friends have asked me what I would like for my birthday. This year, for my birthday, there is nothing in the world I want more than to be able to help my friend so she and her family can focus their energy on healing.

Her brother Eric has set up a web site to collect donations to help Steena and her family. it's www.4sxc.com/.

I am asking everyone I know if they would be willing to donate any amount (no amount is too small).

I know many people are understandably skeptical about appeals like this. I don't blame them. But I'm hoping that some of my friends will see this as an opportunity to help a family in desperate need. Steena is my friend, and I love her. I've lost one sister already to this disease and I don't want to loose my dearest friend in the whole world.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,

Rob Cochran

Introducing My Dad

Hello fellow Tribe Friends. In honor of it being Father's Day, I'd like to introduce you to my Dad. His Name is Corky and he's brand new to Tribe - so I'm hoping my friends will all give him a nice welcome, maybe invite him to join your network or tribe or just a note to say hello. He's a fabulous guy and a terrific Dad. :) Here's a link to his profile:

Structural Deep Democracy (SD-2)

I recently stumbled upon something called Structural Deep Democracy (SD-2). It's a revolutionary form of democracy based on internet search engine technology that "allows the best leaders to determine who the best leaders are, eliminating the popularity game of conventional populistic-democracy" according to Mark Rosst, SD-2's originator in Seattle. Check it out for yourself at groups.yahoo.com/group/sd-2/

First Blog Posting

This is my first blog post. Rather than post a mile-long article bringing everyone one up to date on my life, I hope that if something is unclear you'll just ask. :)

As you may or may not know, I live in Mexico with my friends Molly & Arthur. Arthur is writing a screenplay about the Life of Garry Davis, founder of the World Citizen Movement (see my profile for details).

Molly and Arthur are on vacation right now so I have the whole house to myself which is cool. I've been listening to music really loud, leaving dishes in the sink, and generally just enjoyning being able to be alone with my thoughts. Not that I don't love living here with Molly & Arthur, but you know how it is, it's just nice every once in a while to have uninterupted time to be yourself. :)

Other news: The charity auction I coordinated raised over $9,000 in scholarhship money for local kids who would not be able to afford school otherwise - so I'm very happy about that.

My mother and sister recently visited me here in Mexico and we had a FABULOUS time - especially with the bio luminesence in the ocean - I've never seen a glow-in-the-dark ocean before! Pretty fucking cool!

Our neighbor, Bob, spent the night last night. I like Bob a lot. He's kind of a loud mouth and pretends to be a real hard-nosed guy from NY with a real tough attitude, but the truth is, he's all heart. Which explains why his fiance, Marla is so in love with him. Bob and I have become good friends, which I never imagined would happen because of my aversion to people with lots of money (Bob has 4 houses around the world and collects mini-coopers like other people collect stamps) But I just like his sense of humor and his integrity. He really seems to appreciate his wealth and realizes his power and responsibility.
