My Testimonials

April 11, 2008
Smart, witty, beautiful, and charming. Val has great people skills, and is a great friend. I met her at fair, and through her an entire group of people that I call friends. She's like an extra-fabulous sibling.

Oh, where to begin with Val? Her unasked-for sweetness and guidance has been something that has always made me smile. Her willingness to teach and help out is admirable, as well as her knowledge of all sorts of neat things. She's beautiful, strong and intelligent and I look up to her, and what better person to have as a mentor than Val?

Valerie is a personal hero and major Ren rock star in my life. She is beautiful and brilliant and level headed. If I had to name ten people who have truly dedicated themselves to our PFP Ent Dept from the beginning, she would be at the top of that list. She has been thrown in the trenches and been put through the ringer and came out shining. She is a dedicated friend and promoter of our faire. I'm proud to call her friend. And she's a wino...like the rest of us!

Smart and beautiful. I'm lucky to call her a friend, though it sometimes feels like she's gleefully torturing--er, I mean teasing me.

Could you be any cuter?
I mean, really.

about me
Hmm, let's see. I'm not shy. Some people say I smile a lot. I like people that are real, or that can at least pretend they are real long enough to carry on an intelligent conversation. I have a wacky sense of humor, I love corny jokes and I am very sarcastic. If I tease you, it means I like you. I'm probably obnoxious. I have great friends and a wonderful family, including a teenage daughter who I am trying my very best to raise as a decent human. So far it seems to have worked. I consider myself very lucky. Carpe Diem and Life is Good, that's what I say.

A good friend sent this over. Enjoy!

This is hysterical. If it had been presented this way when we were young, none of us would have wanted the position!!!!

Mom, Mommy, Mama, Ma
Dad, Daddy, Dada, Pa

JOB DESCRIPTION :
Long term, team players needed, for challenging permanent work in an, often chaotic environment. Candidates must possess excellent communication and organizational skills and be willing to work variable hours, which will include evenings and weeke... read more

I've been dreading this for months since I consented to let Alisa go to Peru for Christmas. It helped to ignore it at first, so I did. It's hard to ignore now that she is 3000 miles away and soon to be farther.

She has been gone for a few days now. She is in Miami with her dad, step-mom and step-sis. They'll be flying to Peru tomorrow. I've talked to her a few times every day. I know that she will have fun and that this is a great experience for her, but it just doesn't feel like Christm... read more

Re: When to use thee or thou? (in Ren Faire History Snobs) "By contrast, the first person pronouns (I and me) are mixed up frequently (especially in conversational english)."

Good point, John.

By the way, linguists will tell you that this grammatical and popular non-distinction (I .vs Me), as well a... read more

Re: When to use thee or thou? (in Ren Faire History Snobs)
"It's: "How art thou?" rather than "How art thee?" for the same reason that it's:

"How is he?" instead of "How is him?" "

John,

That is because even though the thou is at sentence end in these examples in early and modern English, it... read more

Re: Next year.... (in Play Faire) LOL. You are SO not a dunce
When I wrote that, I wasn't sure it did make sense. Encompasses was not the literally correct word. I should have written something more like: "that /includes/ both the biggins and the caul, both being worn under the ... read more

Re: Next year.... (in Play Faire) I agree! Drea's a goddess but this article says naught of a biggins. What does the Tudor Tailer call the biggins? I don't have my copy here at work. I know there is a picture of one in the book. Can anyone look?

Re: Next year.... (in Play Faire) I hesitated to answer this question and I was curious to see what others would say.

I have always thought that coif was a term for an underhat (is that a word?) that encompasses both the biggins and the caul. I just can't remember where I got ... read more
