I discovered recently that my MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard has a "diagnostic" line on the drop down menu from the power icon. It told me to replace the battery (and I think it was giving me good advice). Check it!

sorry for the icoherent message: I meant to say that OpenOffice did not, last time I tried, have the statistical extension that Excel has.
