It seemed time for my so loved child, the Evil-Three-Eyed-Red-Baby, to be put to bed. He serves me well as an avatar on so many other sites, but it's time to put the real mug up....let the real horror begin!

Finally took the plunge and got a real camera. The kind that uses real lenses and such. It's a Pentax K10D (10.2Mpix) with just a 70-300mm cheapo-zoom lens, which needs to be stopped down to f:11 to produce anything sharp. Definitely a better camera than the old point-and-shoot Olympus...

Just did the numbers on our 1990 Geo Metro. Just pulled 42.6MPG in real-world driving!! Woo hoo! That's up and down HWY150 between Carp and Ojai every day, and a bit of freeway driving too. I remember the car was EPA-rated at 44MPG back when it was new, which was 111,000 miles ago.

Finally put something at least half-way meaningful up on my "real" site, TheOneTrueRod.com, my little wart of self-indulgent HTML on the arse of the internet...
