My Testimonials

January 25, 2007
I just did my first yoga in months with Y.D. Twenty-four hours later I'm starting to feel all the workout.

But last night after completion of the Ashtanga routine it was like a colonic, wheat grass, sauna and scalp massage, all in one, with a makeover and a truffle on my pillow. I'm ready to face the Winter again.

about me
I am currently living in SF, studying and teaching ashtanga yoga. I have my own yoga studio called Om Style Yoga Shala (www.omstyleyoga.com) and I am also assisting Clayton Horton at Yoga Tree Valencia. I like to travel, go to the beach, write, keep it simple, work on my website, and eat good vegetarian food. I like to stay very active, riding my bike, hiking, walking around the city, etc. I was pretty much born and raised in the Bay Area, my family moved here when I was 2. I was introduced to Eastern mysticism and philosophy when my mama took me to see Sri Swami Satchidananda at the age of 16.

Dear friends,

As it turns out, I am still in Goa, some 6 weeks later. I have actually been here this whole time, since leaving "The States" on 14 February, except for a five day jaunt to Gokarna for the big Shivaratri festival at the beginning of March. It was surely not my original plan to stay in Goa this long, as I had only intended to be here through the end of March, and maybe not even that long. But when one is in India, you really just never know what is going to happen, so I fin... read more

Dear Friends,

It is now just over two weeks that I have been in India. It has been a hell of a whirlwind thus far, really I would not have expected it to be any other way, this is just the nature of India. The ten hour layover in the Bombay airport was excruciating, this after already more than 24 hours of travel. I spent much of that time lingering at the Cafe Coffee Day with the 300 rupee buffet, all you can drink cappucinos included, but "no laying down on the couch please", says the... read more

TKV Desikachar, who was in SF last Sunday giving a lesson on vedic chanting, is the son of Krishnamacharya, a great yoga master of the old school, who lived to the age of 101 and passed away in 1989. In addition to ensuring that the ancient yoga practices not only survived, but indeed thrived, Krishnamacharya was also the first Indian yoga guru to openly teach to women, and in fact, he encouraged women to take up yoga. Before Krishnamacharya, this was simply not done. Krishnamacharya was a... read more

For the full moon in March 007, my most favorite faeries & friends were sitting around singing in Sanskrit together, a rather old sight, bonding over this holy chant from India. For the last several years, my friends and I have been chanting in different homes each month for the full moon, this time was at Bunni's place. Caesar, a friend of Willi's, brought this amazing blue ceramic lingam that he made himself, and it created this lovely centerpiece on the altar, it really seemed to coales... read more

Last Friday, my friends and I went to the Shivaratri celebration at Ammachi's ashram in Castro Valley. Shivaratri is a big birthday party for Lord Shiva, the Indian god representing creation & destruction. Ammachi, the venerable hugging saint from Kerala, India, has literally hugged millions of people all over the world. She also does lots of charity & environmental work in India & everywhere. Her main ashram in the US is right in our backyard. Interestingly, Amma, as she is affectionate... read more
