I read this book a couple of years ago and really liked it until the end, where things kind of fizzled away. I hope the film picks up some of where the book left off. |

Yes, this is a very good book. DMT is so enlightening and the people deserve a real documentary about it. There was recently a something I watched about Ayahuasca on the History Channel. It was weird though because they talked about Ayahuasca for about an hour without ever mentioning the name of the chemical, DMT. Nor, did they talk about smoking DMT. It was like they were trying to hide something.

I'm thinking about trying ayahuasca for the first time this June... It a powerful teacher that I've heard forever changes you. I'm both afraid and really excited to try it and see what it has in store for me. I don't know if its something one can ever be "ready" for... |

I have smoked DMT many times and even drove to Taos New Mexico to meet with Strassman and talk about it off the record, when I was very seriously studying the entheogens and making the spice. He is a pleasant guy with quite a studder and he asked to see my Dmt pipe that I had specially made.....
This stuff is not to be used lightly and it is not necessary at all at this point in history... The intense amount of vibration in the ethers from the over population of thought waves and the speeding up of history makes it extremely powerful to just meditate... Of course we all have to find out for ourselves but the entheogens alway bring us to the astral plain and not to the higher sheres of consciousness that some think they do... I used to argue that shrooms and aya were the true way to awakening but I was very wrong..You open yourself up and you basically hyper jump to these places without a clue. They are a trendy instant gratification fix that the western mind is lovingly taking a hold on... Good luck with the spice or with Aya but meditation will get you much farther and quicker in the long run... ciao |

thanks for your comments... yah what you have said echos much of what I have felt/thought as well. I may end up choosing not to open that door - now or ever. Not because I'm afraid but because I can feel that it may be unnecessary at this point to bring in that many other levels of awareness. Sometimes less information is better... ; >
I agree that meditation holds vast amounts of deep and far-reaching teachings very pertinent to the human experience in the here and now. But I know that I, like so many others in this western mindset, have difficulty motivating my meditation practice - which is not an easy thing to create a foundational practice in - because its so tempting to want to instead "jump ahead" of all that sitting and Being to a drug-enhanced place that I didn't have to work to get to. Not too unlike going down to the corner grocery store and buying sugar food.. haha... In some ways its taken me years to integrate my experiences with shrooms and other substances... maybe I should cruise a while with that. : > |
