Tiered skirts are quite simple, yet there are a million ways to make them because of all the variables. Mine are rectangular construction - all pieces are cut (or torn) as rectangles.

Note: These instructions are provided for each little step; it may look complex but that's mostly down to the level of detail. If you don't like how I do it or can't figure out what I'm on about, ignore it and assemble in a way that makes sense to you.

+ measure the yoke (excluding seam allowances) (Y) (use metric - it makes the math easier)
+ measure the pant/trouser leg to be pleated (excluding seam allowances) (L)
+ pick a number of pleats (P) that makes the math easy (e.g. 10)

+ calculate Y/P - this is the distance between the edge of one pleat and the next *after* it's all pleated up
