Update

Just a quick update, as using a computer still causes me serious pain...

The verdict on my gimpiness: nerve damage from the neck surgery, to the nerve that enervates my rotator cuff and shoulder. That would explain why I can't reach for things, and I can only raise my arm about 60 degrees out of a possible 140. And why the muscles are all in crazy-big knots that just won't quit. And why the pain sometimes makes me yell.

The pain is still ferocious. Sweet lady percocet is keeping me sane (and making me queasy, ugh) and physical therapy is quickly draining my savings. I was making some progress, then I was overworked on wednesday - and I found out why you shouldn't overwork a nerve injury. So I'm taking a few days off of the exercises, getting a massage monday, and trying to keep it together mentally.

Can it recover? That's the big question. I'm hoping for yes, obviously. I heard through the grapevine of someone with a similar experience, and she got full motion back; it took her six months though. I'm going a bit crazy (and pudgy) with no dance or yoga, and everything that I like or need to do causing me great pain. And I'm clearly not at tribalcon - I can barely pick up my purse, much less luggage or totes, and sewing is pretty much out of the question right now. I WILL be at Spirit, come hell or high water.

I got my Clovenshield medallion in the post (THANK YOU KEVIN!!!), and I have been grinning like a goon all afternoon. Nothing like a cleavage full of chaos to make your day!

Yuk!! Hope you feel better soon!! It's hard to take things slow and not overdo stuff ;( My pain doc tells me to clean one room of the house a day and not go on a cleaning spree.... yeah... cuz that's easy to with all that "life" throws at you.... If you haven't already try eating a small snack before you take the percocet- a few pretzels or spoonful of peanut butter seem to work for me. And when I'm frustrated cuz I want to do stuff but can't- I go to You-tube and before you know it I've wasted hours of time, laughed a lot and maybe learned a thing or two ;)- Most importantly I forgot my frustration for a bit :)
Good luck!!!!

Myofascial Trigger Point therapy
See if you can find someone that does MTPT. go to myofascialtherapy.org.. If nothing else you want a massage therapist hat has successfully treated frozen shoulder. Subscapularis, Trap, scalenes, pec minor, both Teres, infraspinatus and supraspinatus, posterior neck muscles might also be involved. Sorry that i didnt know at WS. It is only a guess, having not seen you. These are muscles that can be involved with neck and shoulder pain and frozen shoulder. Subscap is a big one! The PT will cost more than the bodywork and the BW may be much more successful. You dont want to strengthen the muscles till the Trigger points are reduced and range of motion is better or even better, normal. Stretching is more important than strengthening right now! Just suggestions, no absolutes, it would be much easier if I had seen you... sorry.
