Incessant Babbeling
Modern Living
Tue, November 21, 2006 - 3:30 PMI will readily admit that I am rather anal about the whole bathing thing. I like being clean, and feeling clean. My world revolves around showering, hence my ordeals with camping.
So for the last 3 days we have in essence, been living in 'Frontier House' as the water heater is busted in our building and no one seems all that up in arms about getting it fixed. I'm beside myself. I mean, the toilet still works and all. I could boil some water and have a sponge bath, but there's nothing like a nice hot shower for getting that squeeky-clean feeling and soothing aching muscles. Not to mention, doing laundry. Ah-hem, running low on undies might I add.
It has been an, shall we say, interesting experience watching my sanity unravel as the days mount on up without any ability to wash throughly. And since the water is f@#*ing freezing, even washing ones hands is an ordeal. Where do you put your hands when they're ice cold anyway?
I guess if lived a life back in Victorian times, or like I like to fantasize about, the Renaissance, then I would have been raised from birth dealing with bathroom issues in a completely different way. No doubt I would be less neurotic and hand-washy. Clean would be relative to what was available to me and my community. And let's face it, if I was living in a third world country and without the priviliges I currently enjoy, my sense of being clean would certainly be relevant to my reality as it stood outside of my current expectations of how things stand for me now.
With all that being said, I am still rather put out by the current circumstances. Not to mention, I need to be cooking tomorrow and being able to wash dishes in hot water that I don't have to boil myself would make things a lot easier.
To sum things up, I'm in a mood.

Expectations
Your right if you lived back then your expectations would be different, but your not and hot water from the tap is a neccesity. I will keep my fingers crossed that it is fixed soon for you.
As to what to do with your ice cold hands, walk right up behind that favorite someone and slip your hands right under their shirt, it will warm them up in no time and give the other person the joy of knowing they helped someone in need. |

NOV 22 UPDATE:
We have HOT WATER! YAY! I was so over joyed that I took an extra long shower and just reveled in it!
Thanks Kassie! Now, as for warming up cold hands, I think my BaldGuy would kill me, but I'll use your reasoning with him and get back to you! ;P |
